You are invited to play this quick minor league-version of the The New Yorker Caption Contest.
Every week I enter the contest in the magazine. Below are five captions. Three are the magazine’s semifinal selections, one is the winner, and two are mine. See if you can guess which are which.
A. “Did you remember the mayonnaise?”
B. “If you fall we’re talking major separation anxiety.”
C. “Could you go back to the front desk? The receptionist has some forms for you to fill out.”
D. “This week we’ll delve a little deeper than ‘Because it’s there,’ Mr. Mallory.”
E. “You’re in luck! My three-o’clock seems to have fallen off the face of the earth.”
This cartoon is the property of The New Yorker. I devour every issue of the magazine and consider it “must” reading for writers and those who appreciate good writing.
